What I’m Working On
I’m working on an exciting commission this week. The target word count is low, and if you’re writer you’ll know that is often trickier than high word counts.
Never under estimate the skill of a short story or content writer, to compress those words is an under appreciated skill.
I’ve also been tying up some plot holes in the next Jezzabelle Jones ‘Burned’ story. It’s dark from page one, but I’m loving it.
Again it’s based around something I feel strongly about, people trafficking. I like the power of being able to draw even a little attention to the topic in a book.
Words are powerful, how are you using yours?
I’m scheduling the next Substack book, Midlife Isn’t A Crisis, getting all that pesky admin out of the way.
For those of you who would love a life as a writer, please know it’s work. Treat it professionally, and do the admin too. One day you may need or want to to farm it out to subcontractors, but do it yourself at the start, learn those skills and build that business.
You might even enjoy it!
Canva Revamp
I use this genius creative platform every single day. Honestly I love it. This week they had a genius launch for their updated platform.
They made a game to recruit beta testers. The first million users could gain access to the new version, but only if they could find out how to access it. That needed to be shared by friends, or you needed to play inside Canva.
Genius marketing!
Luckily I got in, at around 50000+ users.
I’m loving the new set up, and can’t wait to dabble in it.
Book of the Week
This free book is a glimpse at my flash fiction inspired by the throw of the dice.
I’m thinking of sharing some flash fiction with you here in Substack. It could form a fun weekly shared project.
I’d share a writing prompt from Story Dice, and we’d all produce a 500 word story.
